Cloud Website Hosting Description
What is cloud website hosting really? The word 'cloud' seems to be very trendy in today's information technology, Internet and web hosting jargon. However, just a select few in fact are informed about what cloud hosting is. Perchance it is a sensible idea to inform yourself about cloud website hosting services. To make a very lengthy tale succinct, we will firstly inform you about what cloud hosting is not.
1. Cloud Website Hosting is Not Restricted to a Remote Data Storage Exclusively.
1. Supplying a remote file storage solution, which comprises one disk storage tool for all clients, does not convert any given web hosting service provider into an actual cloud website hosting packages provider.
The cPanel hosting vendors call the ability to distribute remote data storage solutions a cloud website hosting solution. Up till now there is nothing wrong with the cloud classification, but... we are talking about hosting solutions, not remote file storage solutions for personal or business needs. There's always one "but", isn't there? It's not enough to call a shared hosting solution, powered by a single-server hosting platform, precisely like cPanel, a "cloud website hosting" service. That's because the remaining pieces of the entire web hosting platform must be operating in exactly the same way - this does not refer solely to the remote data storage. The remaining services entailed in the whole web hosting procedure also need to be remote, separated and "clouded". And that's really problematical. A very small number of hosting corporations can actually attain it.
2. It Includes Domain Names, E-mail Boxes, Databases, File Transfer Protocols, Web Hosting CPs, etc.
Cloud website hosting is not confined to a remote data storage solely. We are discussing a hosting solution, serving lots of domains, sites, email mailbox accounts, and so on, are we not?
To dub a hosting service a "cloud website hosting" one takes a lot more than supplying merely remote data storage mounts (or possibly servers). The e-mail server(s) have to be dedicated only to the electronic mail connected services. Performing nothing else than these given procedures. There might be only one single or probably an entire cluster of e-mail servers, based on the total server load produced. To have a genuine cloud website hosting service, the remote database servers should be working as one, irrespective of their real number. Performing nothing else. The same is valid for the clients' web hosting CPs, the File Transfer Protocol, etc.
3. There are Cloud Domain Name Servers (DNSs) as well.
The DNSs (Domain Name Servers) of a true cloud website hosting company will support multiple datacenter sites on multiple continents.
Here's an example of a DNS of an actual cloud website hosting services provider:
dns1.www.madaiweb.com
dns2.www.madaiweb.com
If such a Domain Name Server is offered by your web hosting plans provider, it's not a guarantee that there is a cloud hosting platform in use, but you can definitely be convinced when you perceive a DNS such as the one underneath:
dns658.hostgator.com
dns659.hostgator.com
that there isn't any cloud hosting service. This type of DNS merely exhibits that the hosting environment in use is one-single-server based. Maybe it's cPanel. cPanel is a single-server web hosting solution and holds a market share of more than 98 percent. In cPanel's case, one single physical machine tackles all web hosting services (web, email, DNS, databases, File Transfer Protocol, CP(s), web site files, and so on).
Remote File Storage - The Twisted Interpretation of Cloud Website Hosting.
So, a cloud website hosting service is not confined only to a remote data storage service, as many web hosting corporations wish it was. Unluckily for them, if that was the case, most of the file web hosting vendors would have been categorized as cloud web hosting ones a long time ago! They are not classified as such, as they simply provide file hosting services, not cloud web hosting solutions. The file web hosting platform appears really very plain, in comparison with the hosting platform. The remote disk storage platform is not a cloud web hosting platform. It cannot be, as it's just one simple segment of the whole cloud hosting platform. There's a lot more to be found in the cloud hosting platform: the hosting CP cloud, the database clouds (MySQL, PostgreSQL), the DNS cloud, the FTP cloud, the email cloud and... in the upcoming future, probably a number of new clouds we currently don't know about will emerge out of the blue.
